Children’s Dental Visits

We love seeing children at Oakmont Family Dental and they enjoy their visits!

The American Dental Association and The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that the first dental visit occur within 6 months after the eruption of the first tooth and no later than the child’s first birthday. It’s best for your child to meet the dentist when there is not a dental problem waiting until an emergency arises is not the optimal way to build a trusting relationship between your child and the dentist.

We find that by doing a “happy visit” where the child has the opportunity to ride in the dental chair, play with the water syringe or “spray gun”and experience the “spit sucker”, the child feels at ease with future appointments.
