DENTAL CROWNS ARE A VERSATILE RESTORATION THAT CAN BE USED FOR NUMEROUS DENTAL PROBLEMS.

  • Large filling that have weakened the natural crown of the tooth;
  • Broken, cracked or fractured teeth;
  • Badly decayed teeth;
  • Teeth that have undergone a root canal; and
  • Misshapen, badly discolored or otherwise unsightly teeth.

Crowns are often chosen when teeth are too badly damaged to be repaired using fillings.  They can also be used with dental implants and to support a dental bridge to replace lost teeth.

TRADITIONAL CROWNS VS. CEREC (SAME DAY) CROWNS

Traditional crowns are time-intensive and require a minimum of two appointments. The first to have the tooth evaluated and prepared, and the second to have the crown placed. This process takes up a lot of your valuable time, which is why we offer our patients CEREC (same day) crowns.

What are CEREC crowns?

CEREC crowns are state-of-the art technology.  They are a type of all-ceramic crown that designed, made and placed at our office during a single dental appointment. When you come to our office with a damaged, broken or decayed tooth, you can leave with a high-quality tooth-colored restoration that will strengthen and enhance your smile. The entire process is faster and more streamlined for our patients who need dental crowns in Eugene Oregon.

What makes CEREC crowns different?

CEREC crowns can be made and placed in a single appointment rather than multiple appointments with lab work in between. There is no need to have a mouthful of impression materials and no need to wear a temporary crown.

The crown you get will be made from a single porcelain block, ensuring both strength and beauty, and it will be completely customized for a better fit and more aesthetic results.

Are CEREC crowns right for me?

A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth — to cover the tooth and restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance.  A crown can significantly improve not just the look but also the function of your smile.

How are CEREC crowns applied?

The CEREC crown procedure begins with a careful evaluation of your tooth and surrounding structures to ensure that a crown is the best choice for your situation. Next, your tooth will be numbed, and we will prepare your tooth. This means that any decay will be removed, and the tooth is shaped to receive the crown. We then use a special CEREC scanner to take a digital image of the tooth. Instead of using a gooey impression material, we can scan the tooth and other structures almost instantly and without any discomfort. This is especially beneficial for those with sensitive gag reflexes.

The image is sent to a computer that enables us to replicate your natural tooth through its advanced software. We adjust each aspect of the crown until it is just right, and the specifications are sent to our in-office milling unit. After choosing the right shade of ceramic to match your other teeth, we mill your new crown, and it can be fit and bonded to your tooth as soon as it has been made.

How do I maintain my new CEREC crown?

Although crowns need no special care beyond good dental hygiene and regular checkups just like your natural teeth, you do need to be careful when cleaning them. The border between the crown and the natural tooth needs a little extra attention when you brush and floss to remove any buildup, which could cause decay. You may also need to use precautions to avoid damaging the crown: Do not use your teeth as tools, bite your nails or do anything else that could cause undue pressure on the crown.

If your smile is not everything you want it to be due to broken or damaged teeth, you might be a candidate for CEREC crowns. Contact us today to learn more about your treatment options or to schedule a consultation for one day crowns in Eugene Oregon.
